In Harm's Way

Chester got into a fight with some other dogs in my neighborhood a few days ago. He came out worst after being attacked by three dogs. Luckily, Ki Choy was also there to help when it all happened.

I just arrived home with Ki Choy and my sister when the three dogs made their way towards our house gate and tried to pick a fight with Chester and Happy from the outside. They somehow caused the gate to slide open and Chester was the first to run towards the three dogs and right behind him was Happy who bravely followed him into the fray.

I was still in the car as I saw the both of them running out of the house. I couldn't believe what I was seeing. I panicked and jumped out of the car. Ki Choy and I ran straight towards the dogs to stop them fighting. Of course it is dangerous to run straight into a dog fight but there was no time to waste.

After it was all over, Mum and my sister applied medicine on Chester's wounds. Happy was barely injured.

A few days have passed and Chester is much better now :)

Move Along

It's been another boring day today, nothing really interesting happened. Went to uni, felt sleepy, ate breakfast, finally went home, fell asleep. :S

Walking Wounded

Recently there has been a lot of things going on around the house. First it was the Cat that was almost killed and now this monitor lizard was even lucky to be crawling out of the compound.

Just as we got home, Chester chased this lizard right until it crawled through the living room window. When we finally shooed the lizard out, Chester was the first to greet it outside the kitchen door. He sunk his teeth into the lizard and dropped it as it fought back. It scrambled away while blood was visible from the wound.

My sister chained Chester while I got the camera out to take some pictures of the lizard from the other side of the fence.

Burning out the Hornets

The DBKK responded to requests to remove/destroy/burn this huge hornet's nest that was on a hill near my house. We had to close our windows to make sure the hornets don't fly in. We even brought Chester and Happy into the house.

The whole thing took about 10-12 minutes for the whole nest to collapse into sparks and charred debris. It was pretty awesome. Some flaming debris landed next to a plastic water tank that belonged to my opposite neighbor. One of the DBKK workers quickly went and removed it before it caused any damage.

With Lives to Spare

It has been long overdue for an update but I have been really busy with this semester's final exams.

Apparently, not busy enough to take pictures :p

This morning, as I was about to turn on the computer, I heard my dogs, Happy and Chester barking in a strange way, so I ran downstairs to check on them if they were attacking something or something was attacking them.

When I found them at the back of the garden, they were both inside the drain trying to attack something. I heard hisses and I thought it was a monitor lizard. When I got closer to break up the fight, I saw to my horror, a Cat was held in Chester's mouth. I yelled at him and he dropped the poor cat.

The adolescent cat moved to safety as I tried to hold the dogs back. Happy came closer to try and attack but I grabbed a fistful of her fur and shoved her back until my sister had come to chain the both of them.

I examined the cat and to my relief, there was no blood, but just mud covering the frightened cat.
It was raining the night before so the drain still had some mud that hadn't dried up. I got the camera and took a several pictures of the cat. Apparently the cat had a DIY collar that comprised of a thick string and a bell.

After I was sure that the cat was okay, I brought it out of the house compound and left it at hill nearby the immigrant houses that were higher up the hill. My sister kept watch outside to make sure the cat didn't enter the compound again and soon saw the cat going up the hill towards the houses.

The cat can count its lucky stars that I quickly came to check what was going on, otherwise it would have been a brutal mess to clean up. :s

Meanwhile, I'm trying out this new watermark I made. It's much simpler than the other one. But I think I like this one better.

Scorpionida

This morning as I was heading out to church with my family, we found a dead scorpion beside the car before leaving and we could only assume that our dog, Chester had somehow killed it because Happy, our other dog had been chained far away from the scorpion.

Exactly how he did it will remain a mystery to us. We're just lucky he wasn't stung by it, well he doesn't seem to have been stung but its night time now and he's still running around so I guess he's fine.

update:
Ok just to be clear for some people who seem concerned about chaining dogs, we only chain the dogs when necessary, we know when to let them go

example:

- when opening the front gate, so that they dont escape [and then let them go when the gate closes]

- at night or when we are not at home, we only chain Happy because shes small enough to squeeze through the fence and run out of the house compound.
