Me, Mahira and Nadine went on another photo shoot at Shangri-La's Tanjung Aru Resort. I was completely off my game because we arrived and started the shoot just before noon. It got too bright and hot very quickly so I stopped while Mahira continued.

Stars and Lightning

Hey everyone! sorry for the lack of updates. I have been busy again catching up with assignments and errands that I haven't found much time to get to editing to update my blog.

These are some photos from an stormy evening spent at the Sunset Bar, Shangri-La Tanjung Aru Resort. We were having some drinks while we listened to music from Papi Johntoy and Dj Kumar.

Quiet Confidence

Another photo from the same shoot at Tanjung Aru. All of the lights were from the well positioned building spotlights. Didn't need to use a flash on this one.

Spent the past few days doing nothing but the combination of playing games and writing notes for my last exam paper this coming saturday.

Got addicted to Angry Birds all over again since I have it on my computer now :)

It's Not Over

I went on another photo shoot with Mahira and Nadine last wednesday. We were expecting to shoot during the day but then it rained all the way till evening and in the end we wound up in Tanjung Aru.

I didn't bring my transmitter then so I didn't get as good a result as I wanted with lighting. I had to bounce the flash off a reflector to try and get the effect right but it was pretty difficult and it mostly failed. I still like the pictures though, many thanks to Mahira and Suhaimi for helping out with the reflector :D I really appreciate it.

Exams aren't over by the way. My last paper is on the 7th of May :/

I will post a couple more photos in the next entry.

Power to the People Party 2011

The event was held last Friday at the Tanjung Aru first beach and was focused on the environment and "Sustainability" as its theme. It showcased organic foods, renewable energy and a chance for the public to donate to Mercy Malaysia Japan Earthquake/ Tsunami Relief Fund. The event offered the public a better understanding of on-going work by citizen movements and non-governmental organizations such as the SPCA which were also present.

It was a great party and hundreds of people came to show their support. It was 5.30pm when it started. We were there to help out the SPCA booth but I went around and and usual, took lots of photos. I met many friends and I was really surprised to find out that Emma Thompson was there. We took pictures with her as did many other people. My mum, who was carrying the SPCA donation box almost dropped everything in excitement when she saw her.

After sunset, the lights came on the large stage and a few prominent Deejays like DJ Atama Katama started the music and invited the people to dance. Michelle Koh was there as the dance instructor for the crowd. It was a great party and I had a great time there :)

I will post the rest of the photos in my Facebook soon. I just need more time to make sure I haven't missed any good ones and I will also post my favourite photos in the next post :p

Cascading Gold

This was shot at the Tanjung Aru beach. I really wanted to get a good shot of the fountain but even with the aperture set at f/2.8 I couldn't get a shallow enough depth to blur out the restaurant which was much too close behind it.

In the end I just used photoshop to create a radial blur around the fountain to isolate it from the background.
